At over 5km long, with sections reaching up to 200m tall and 150m wide, Hang Son Doong is large enough to house an entire New York City block, complete with 40 story skyscrapers. With a total measured volume of 38.5 million cubic metres, this comfortably surpasses Deer Cave in Malaysia, which was considered to be the previous record holder. Stalagmites up to 80m high have also been surveyed, the tallest ever encountered.

Less people have seen the inside of Hang Son Doong than have stood on the summit of Mount Everest.

  • Hey everyone. I'm at Phong nha right now. In quach Binh province. Doing this is too over priced and expensive for my budget. I'm a back packer. Right now it's cheaper in price and this town is dead quiet. Post covid-19. I've done dark cave and Phong NHA cave. Who else here with me now.

Anyone done the duck stop 🦆

Note:. Wtf was the ending about. Says 1990. That cave wasn't discovered till long after 1990. Who wrote that there. What's the story behind that. What does it say and mean

  • In English: "Here in Hon Son Doong (Vietnamese), or as the locals (Vietnamese) call it, Mountain River Cave (English)"

    You sure, bro?

Devraj Ray July 20, 2020 11:38 am Reply
  • When he said 'or as the locals call it,' were expecting something dramatic like 'hall of the dragon emperor,' or 'gateway to the underworld' and he says 'mountain river cave.' That's not even a name, it's just a description. So not the most imaginative locals.

  • I do not want this area to be a tourist attraction. I don't want this one of a kind cave to become another Mount Everest – full of trashes and corpses. Only scientists are allowed.

  • Wow, what a great video. Nice music, cinematography, and narrator's voice is very soothing. Nice adventure with a band of brothers. Nice job with the credits section listing properly Vietnamese names with almost correct diacritical marks and order (family name followed by first name). Bravo!
